What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy (also known as Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology or EPAT) uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. These waves are directed at targeted areas to promote blood flow, reduce inflammation, and encourage tissue regeneration.
Conditions Treated with Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy is clinically proven to be effective for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
- Plantar fasciitis and heel spurs
- Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
- Rotator cuff tendinopathy
- Achilles tendinitis
- Patellar tendinitis (jumper’s knee)
- Hip bursitis
- Chronic muscle pain or trigger points
- Back pain
Shockwave Therapy is not currently covered by insurance and is offered as a self-pay service. Our team will discuss pricing options with you during your consultation, ensuring you understand the value and expected outcomes before beginning treatment.
How It Works
During your session, a handheld device delivers focused sound waves to the affected area. Most treatments take about 10–15 minutes, and patients typically receive a series of 3-5 sessions spaced out 5-10 days apart. Many people experience noticeable pain relief after just 1–2 sessions.
