Elite PT heads due East! Amelia and John
Knarr have over 20 years of experience in
Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. On the
West Coast, they owned five clinics in the
prestigious areas of Newport Beach, Beverly
Hills, Mid-town Los Angeles, Brentwood and in
the historic Los Angeles Athletic Club. They
built a practice based on one on one patient
care and individualized treatment that
consistently provided the results maximizing
optimal performance.
Amelia worked for and mentored with Tom Papke at
his clinic in Santa Monica, California. There
she treated patients with complicated and
involved orthopedic problems. She had her first
experiences treating professional athletes
including the Raider football players and the
members of the AVP traveling with them to their
tournaments in Southern California and Hawaii.
She started her own practice in Newport Beach,
California in 1993. She continued to treat the
professional volleyball players as well as
professional surfers, baseball players and
triathletes. Two additional clinics were added
in Midtown Los Angeles and Brentwood before the
arrival of John Knarr in 1999.
He relocated from Delaware and left his position
as the University of Delaware’s Clinic Director
to join the Elite PT team. They further grew the
business by adding a Beverly Hills and downtown
site in the Los Angeles Athletic Club where the
prestigious John Woodman Award is presented.
John worked closely with Dr. Kvitne (Kerlin and
Jobe Orthopedic Group) who is the team physician
for the Galaxy Soccer and Kings NHL teams. He
also worked closely with Dr. Bert Mandlebaum
(Santa Monica Orthopedic Group) who is the team
physician for the National Soccer teams. John
co-authored a study with Dr. Mandlebaum for the
prevention of ACL injuries for high school and
college athletes. The results of this study were
published in the Physician and Sports Medicine
Journal July 2005.
We were privileged to treat many of LA’s “ELITE”
including former President Ronald Reagan,
Academy Award Winners Sidney Poitier, Ed Harris,
Reese Witherspoon, and Halle Berry, icon
musicians Robert Plant and Rod Stewart, and high
profile actors Rodney Dangerfield, Estelle
Harris, and Sean Hayes to name a few.
Professional Athletes from all avenues of sports
were also seen in our clinics.
In May 2006 the Knarrs relocated to Lewes,
Delaware after the sale of the business in order
to enjoy a better quality of life with their
three young children. We are thrilled to bring
the expertise and experiences of Los Angeles to
Sussex County. They are fortunate to add
Caroline Queale who graduated from the
University of Delaware in 1991 and now treats in
our Baltimore clinics.
