Professional Staff:
Our professional staff is dedicated to provide
state of the art services tailored to meet all
your rehabilitation needs. We provide
personalized care and see only one patient every
45 minutes. This approach is much more cost
effective requiring fewer visits overall thus
saving health care dollars. We are committed to
maintaining and updating our education by
attending continuing education conferences and
course work so that we can provide the most
recent treatment techniques in the
rehabilitation field. We take a team approach
working closely with our patients’ Physicians to
design a comprehensive rehabilitation program
that fits the needs and lifestyle of each
individual patient.
Amelia J. Knarr P.T.
Amelia graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s College
in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical
Therapy. She developed an expertise in
Orthopedic and Manual Therapy under the tutelage
of clinical specialists skilled in the Maitland
and Norwegian approaches to treatment. Amelia
has years of experience treating Athletes, from
Professional (including the Oakland Raiders,
Professional Volleyball, PGA pro baseball,
Tri-athletes cyclists, and dancers) to
Collegiate and Recreational athletes with a
passion to achieve their personal best. Amelia
studied classical ballet for ten years as well
as competed in Bi-athlons. Her strengths include
acute sports injuries, chronic spinal
pathologies, and patient education to promote
self-management of existing pathologies and
prevent further injury. Amelia founded Elite PT
in 1993 in Newport Beach, California that grew
into 4 additional clinics in the Los Angeles
area including the prestigious Los Angeles
Athletic Club. Amelia has been both an academic
and clinical faculty for a variety of Physical
Therapy programs, including USC, Mt. St. Mary’a
College and University of Delaware.
John F. Knarr, M.S., P.T., A.T.C.
John, a Native Delawarean, received his Physical
Therapy and Athletic Training degrees from the
University of Delaware. Previously, John was the
Head Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach at
Delaware Valley College, Susquehanna University
and Delaware State University prior to achieving
his PT credentials. John served as a member of
numerous United States Olympic Sports Medicine
staffs including the 1987 Pan American Games,
1996 Paralympics Games in Atlanta and the
Medical Staff of the United States Soccer
Federation as a Physical Therapist, Athletic
Trainer and consultant to both our Men’s and
Women’s National teams. John has treated many
Professional Athletes of the MLB, NFL, PGA and
MLS as well he has treated numerous celebrities,
foreign dignitaries and a former President of
the United States. He has traveled the world
with numerous sports teams and has a Wealth of
International Sports Medicine experience. A
former manager for Pat Croce’s “Sports Physical
Therapists” in Wilmington, John also served as
the founding Clinical Director at the University
of Delaware’s Physical Therapy Clinic and a
member of the Department of Physical Therapy
prior to joining the Elite PT staff. Over the
past Seventeen years he has had the opportunity
to participate and publish research in refereed
journals and Physical Therapy texts as well as
teach side by side with some of the most
respected Physicians, Physical Therapists,
Athletic Trainers and Faculty in the Medical
profession. John continues to teach aspiring
Physical Therapy students from around the world
via clinical affiliations/internships.
Jessica
L. Sander, DPT.
Jessica has aspired to become a physical
therapist ever since assuming the role of a
patient at the age of fifteen. After obtaining
her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences, she
received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from
the University of Delaware in 2005. Jessica has
practiced in a range of clinical settings
including in-patient acute care and out-patient
orthopedics. Jessica has helped to serve the
local cancer community by obtaining specialty
training in the management of breast cancer
related upper extremity lymphedema. She is
dedicated to her patients and strives to achieve
optimal clinical outcomes. She continues to
strive for clinical excellence by working and
mentoring with clinicians that have an expertise
in manual and orthopedic therapy.
